Originally from Scotland, I made my way to Australia in my early 20s. I’ve always had a keen interested in wildlife from all over the world. Before I arrived in Australia I began volunteering to rehabilitate wild animals such as orangutan’s, baboons, elephants and more by taking part in wildlife conservation projects. Part of this rehabilitation and conservation involved learning to look after their natural habitat.
Nowadays, I rent a property in Moorooduc with my partner Matt, where we run an Equine Assisted Counselling practice called ME Animal Assisted Wellness where we support people with mental health challenges, and include experiences with horses, wildlife and nature in our sessions. We are very fortunate to have 4 off the track Thoroughbreds and a Shetland pony, a Kelpie and a cat, sharing our beautiful home.
Joining the Mornington Peninsula Equine Landcare Group has been really important for us and supported us to learn more about caring for the local wildlife and land that we are on. We aim to buy property in the future and use all our learnt skills and knowledge to create a flourishing natural environment.
