Reporting Eucalyptus Dieback

Drought and heatwaves can cause sudden tree dieback, and climate change is increasing these risks across the Peninsula. MPLN is using iNaturalist to map eucalypts and banksias showing signs of decline.

Community sightings will support the Peninsula Dieback Research Project. I encourage you all to record your observations here: MP Dieback Detective · iNaturalist, as well as promote it more widely within your networks.

When entering observations please kindly provide the following:

• Clear Photos

• Whole tree (from base to crown)

• Photo of location context (is it by itself or with others, soil cracking etc)

• Close-up of bark or any non-leaf damage (if possible)

• Estimated size (e.g. height)

• Is the tree still standing? (standing vs. fallen)

• Any other comments
