Jane and Stuart Myers have played a pivotal role in establishing many local Landcare groups, with a particular focus on sustainable horse-keeping, including our own group.
Our group was officially launched in March 2023, following a presentation by Stuart about the innovative Equicentral System—a concept he and Jane have developed and refined over time.
Stuart’s presentation was both clear and thought-provoking. He introduced the Equicentral System, highlighting its many advantages, including the creation of a central, hard-wearing area where horses can congregate, shelter, feed, and access water. Around this central "loafing" area, a rotational grazing system can be seamlessly implemented.
A standout feature of this system is its emphasis on maintaining ground cover with vegetation and pasture. This approach helps to:
Protect the soil.
Preserve the root mass of pasture plants.
Provide an optimal nutritional profile for the pasture, benefiting the health of our horses.

The resources provided by Jane and Stuart are comprehensive, accessible, and highly recommended. They offer an excellent foundation for building knowledge and skills in sustainable horse-keeping.
